Sunset Studies

Sunset photo project cape town 2008 This piece is a compilation of sunset photos both Sam (mostly Sam) and I took one afternoon at Milnerton beach just north of Cape Town, for Zett’s birthday I got it printed at A0 size and framed it, it is much more impressive on a large scale.

The story of how we ended up with so many photos is... Sam, Lamby, Zett and myself had lunch further north up the beach at Lungabarn, which is literally a restaurant on the beach, seagulls, sand and all. We all enjoyed numerous bottles of wine and some great seafood over our long lunch then a few travellers on the way home, on this trip home Sam became fixated with the sunset, which wasn’t technically a sunset at that stage, we proceeded to argue what a sunset was, to the point that we placed bets on what time it would slip behind the horizon.

We ended up on Milnerton beach to settle the bet, Lamby and I parked off with a few beers a took it easy while the girls mucked around chasing the waves and happy snapping away. Just before the sun actually set the waves got the better of the girls and they ended up fully submerged, the sun set while they were getting changed into dry cloths.

As an added bonus after the sun set we were treated to the largest non-choreographed fireworks display I’ve ever seen.
